Day Five

Today was another action packed day in The Gambia! We started off the day visiting Gunjur Senior School. This school was newly built and we enjoyed a tour round by the headteacher. After this we met with the 60 students, who we were delivering our two sessions to. It was great to meet all of the students and educate them on internet safety and drug awareness.

In the afternoon we headed to Tanji, via the Bato-Kunku community clinic (to drop off some pregnancy leaflets), for kayaking. Despite being slightly nervous, the whole team quickly got to grips with it and started taking in the beautiful scenery. On the way to the island we saw many varieties of birds, monkeys, a monitor lizard and some spiders!

Once we had kayaked to the island, some of the group joined our guide on a therapeutic mud group. While most of the group had a great time, Charlie (from the Gunjur Project) on the other had to hunt for his phone after dropping it in the water. Overall kayaking was a great success and the team saw some amazing wildlife!

After dinner, we watched a local musician play the Kora, which is a 21 string instrument. This was a very relaxing end to our day.
