We spent a lot of time over the weekend looking at the peer education session topics which we have been asked to deliver. They are drug awareness, sexual & menstrual health, internet safety and breast checking.  The team looked at each topic and potential session content. We will work more on these at our next team meeting in January.

We have just had our main team briefing weekend, staying at Pettypool. We had 2 days together, to get to know each other, look at our peer education topics, taste some traditional Gambian food and general trip preparation. We started with some team building activities - including a race to make paper chains!                    

We are having a Gambian evening on Friday 23rd September - £15 per person. All money raised will go towards resources for our next trip. We will have 3 different Gambian dishes available, a dessert, a quiz and a raffle. Bring your own drinks! Numbers are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment! Would you like to join Team Gambia 2023?  The trip will be Sunday 2nd to Sunday 9th April 2023. We will fly from Manchester direct to Banjul with TUI. Note the return flight lands at 03.20 on Monday 10th April. Participants can be from any Girlguiding county, as long as they can fulfil the criteria in the 'essential information' document below, including attending all the briefing meetings....

We have made the difficult decision to postpone our trip again, to April 2023. Our flight balance was due for payment in January and with the omicron variant and the potential for more restrictions coming, the possibility of losing money was becoming too big. We had a team meeting on 21st December and outlined the various scenarios we faced and everyone agreed it was the most sensible decision....

We had an email from our travel agent to say that our flight had been cancelled! Oh no! Just when we had got excited about being able to finally plan to go.... After a very anxious week of assessing all the options, we have now secured seats with TUI on a direct flight from Manchester - phew! We will be departing a day earlier than previously planned. Fingers crossed things will be a little...

We are super excited to see that the FCDO has given The Gambia the green light for travel!! Everything crossed it stays that way

Finally Team Gambia 2022 has met in person! We had lovely sunshine at Pettypool and had a great time getting to know each other better

This week, Team Gambia 2021 should have been at the airport having our group departure photo! We are very sad that we are not there starting our project work today, but happy that there are only 368 days until our re-arranged trip! Plus #TeamGambia2022 is looking forward to having their 1st face to face meeting in a couple of months!

We've had a live link up with Gunjur Project this morning with the team having the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about life in The Gambia and the impact of our project work. Hopefully our next team meeting will be in person instead of on Zoom!
